I'm having an overnight stopover at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Singapore. Here are some of the plants that caught my attention. The only plant I know the name of is the big leafy one in the photograph above, Monstera deliciosa. That's the same plant that turned pot plant lovers into angry addicts at the recent Wellington Botanic Garden Plant Sale.
Singapore is hot. No surprises there. But I thought, I'd get out and about and take lots of plant photos. Well I didn't. First there was jet lag to contend with and then there was my 14 year old son who had to be appeased because we promised to take him to the night safari and then couldn't face it, because of the jet lag and the heat, so took him to a mall instead and looked at thousands and thousands of sneakers. Just looked mind you. After that I din't have the heart to insist that we all take a train and visit the 'Gardens by the Bay', which The Telegraph called 'The worlds most unusual gardens' (hard to know if they were being serious or ironic). So the only decent plants I could be bothered photographing were the ones around the hotel we were staying at...and they were pretty cool.
Over the next few weeks I'm travelling around a few countries in Europe. I'll be posting a few mini-blogs. Next stop Sweden.
